Display model properties with Trimble Connect Content Browser

Use Content Browser to display model properties for reporting. You can group objects by different properties, configure the columns which are shown, view quantities, and export CSV spreadsheets.

To open Content Browser:
  • On the side pane, click Data Table.

Each column in Content Browser pane represents a property of the objects, such as the object name, class, material, area, or volume.

Set how and which objects are shown in Content Browser

In the Content Browser pane, do any of the following:

Show all or selected objects in Content Browser

  • To only show the objects that are selected in the 3D view, in the View content for list, select Selected objects.

  • To show all objects, in the View content for list, select All objects.

Set the sorting criteria and change the sorting order

You can set how objects are sorted by dragging columns in the Group by box at the top of Content Browser. You can sort objects by any criterion that is used as a column in Content Browser.

  1. At the top of Content Browser, remove the existing sorting criteria by clicking for each criterion.

  2. Select a column in Content Browser and hold down the left mouse button.

  3. Drag the column to the Group by box and release the left mouse button.

    The column name appears in the Group by box, and the objects are sorted according to the selected criterion. By default, groups and objects are shown in alphabetical order.

    To add a second criterion, repeat steps 2 to 3.

  4. If you want to reverse the order of objects, click the column name in the Group box.

Search for objects

  1. At the top of Content Browser, click the search button () .

  2. Type the object name in the search field and press Enter.

Only the objects that meet your search text are shown in Content Browser.

Configure which columns are shown

Note that the column configuration is stored individually for each user in the project.
  1. At the top of the Content Browser pane, click the Columns button.
  2. At the top of Column Picker, type a name for the new column set.

    Note that you cannot save changes to the Default column set.

  3. In the All Columns list, select a column that you want to add to the Content Browser pane.
  4. To add the column to the Content Browser pane, do either of the following:
    • Click + on the right side of the selected column.

    • Hold down the left mouse button, drag the column to the Visible Columns list, and release the mouse.

    Customized property sets can also be added as columns.

    Repeat step 4 to add all the necessary columns.

  5. To change the order of columns in the Content Browser pane:
    1. Select the column that you want to move.
    2. Hold down the left mouse button.
    3. Drag the column to a new position.
    4. Release the mouse.
  6. To rename a column:
    1. Hover your mouse pointer over the column and click the pencil icon ().
    2. Type a new name for the column.
    3. To save the new name, press Enter .

    The new name is marked by an asterisk (*).

  7. To save your changes, click OK at the bottom of Column Picker.

The column configuration is saved to the local browser cache.

Select objects by row

  1. In the Content Browser pane, select the rows that correspond with the necessary object type in the 3D viewer.

    To select multiple rows, hold down Ctrl while selecting.

  2. On the context menu, select Select in 3D.

The objects on the current row are selected in the 3D viewer.

Create Organizer groups

  1. In the Content Browser pane, hold down Ctrl and select the necessary rows.
  2. At the top of Content Browser, click Save to Organizer.

A new group is created with the same content as the selected rows.

If the new group is not visible right away in Organizer, you can update the Organizer side pane by clicking and selecting Refresh. For more information on working with Organizer groups, see Group objects with Trimble Connect Organizer.

Export content to CSV

  1. At the upper-right corner of Content Browser, click .
  2. Select Export to CSV.

The entire content of Content Browser is downloaded onto your computer as a CSV file. You can then import the values in the CSV file to another application.

Print content

  1. At the upper-right corner of Content Browser, click .
  2. Select Print.
  3. In the print review window, adjust the printing settings according to your needs.

    For example, you can change the page layout or the paper size.

  4. Click Print.

Color-code objects by row

At the top of Content Browser, click Colorize.

The objects on all rows of Content Browser are color-coded in the 3D viewer. The color that is used for each row is shown on the right side of the row title.
