Create and manage property sets

Use the Trimble Connect property management panel to define new customized property sets. This way, you can link information to model objects and Organizer groups. Note that only project administrators can manage property sets.

  1. To open the properties panel, on the Organizer side pane, click Open properties panel below a group or a subgroup.

  2. At the upper-right corner of the properties panel, click .

  3. On the menu, select Manage property sets.

The property management panel opens in a new browser tab. Here, you can see the property set libraries in the Trimble Connect project that have been created by you or by another project administrator.

Note that other applications can read property sets from and write property sets to the Trimble Connect project using the API integration. For more information, see the Trimble Connect Property Set API.

Create new libraries, property sets, and properties

  1. In the property management panel, click New library.
  2. In the Library settings side pane, type a name and description for the library.
  3. To add a property set, click Add property set.
  4. In the Propery set details side pane, type a name and description for the property set.

    To add more property sets to the property set library, repeat steps 5 and 6.

  5. To add a property to the new property set, click Add property.
  6. To add a property, in the Property definition side pane:
    1. Type a name for the property.
    2. If necessary, click Add a description and type a description for the property.
    3. In the Property type list, select what type of value the property can have.

      The property type can be a piece of text, a measurement, a date, or an URL, among other options.

      Some property types have additional check boxes that you can select or options that you can add. For example, measurements can have multiple values if you select the Allow multiple entries check box.

    4. If necessary, click Add a default value, and type or select a default value for the property.

    Repeat steps a to d to add all necessary properties in the property set.

  7. To make the property set available in the properties panel at the bottom of the 3D viewer, click Publish.

Edit or delete property set libraries, property sets, and properties

In the property management panel, do any of the following:

Edit a property set library

  1. Click on the right side of a property set library.

  2. Select Edit library settings.

  3. In the Library settings side pane, change the name and description of the library according to your needs.

  4. To save the changes that you have made, click Publish.

Delete a property set library

Note:

Deleting a property set library cannot be undone.

  1. Click on the right side of a property set library.

  2. Select Delete library.

  3. To confirm deleting the property set library, click Delete.

Edit a property set

  1. Click the library where the property set is stored to open it.

  2. In the Property set details side pane, change the name and description of the property set according to your needs.

  3. To save the changes that you have made, click Publish.

  1. Click the library where the property set is stored to open it.

  2. Click .

  3. Select Delete.

  4. To confirm deleting the property set, click Delete.

Edit a property

  1. Click the library where the property set is stored to open it.

  2. In the Property definition side pane, change the name, description, default value, and other settings of the property according to your needs.

  3. To save the changes that you have made, click Publish.

  2. Click on the right side of the property that you want to delete.

  3. Click Delete.

  4. To confirm deleting the property, click Delete.

Add property sets for model objects

  1. In the 3D viewer, do any of the following to select model objects:
  2. In the properties panel, click .
  3. Select Add properties.
  4. In the properties panel, select the property sets or properties that you want to show for the selected objects.

    If a property set or a property is not visible in the properties panel, update the view by clicking and selecting Refresh.

    To add an individual property, click the arrow on the right side of the property set to expand the property set, and select the property.

  5. Click Done.

    The selected property sets or properties appear at the top of the properties panel.

  6. To change the property values, click Edit properties.

    The Edit properties button is active only if you have a permission to edit the property values. You can only edit the values of property sets which the project administrator has allowed you to access.

  7. Type or select values for the properties.
  8. Click Save to save the property values.

Add property sets for Organizer groups

  1. In the 3D viewer, click Open properties panel below a group in the Organizer side pane to open the properties panel.
  2. In the properties panel, click Add custom properties.
  3. Select the property sets or properties that you want to show for the selected objects.

    If a property set or a property is not visible in the properties panel, update the view by clicking and selecting Refresh.

    To add an individual property, click the arrow on the right side of the property set to expand the property set, and select the property.

  4. Click Done.

    The selected property sets or properties appear at the top of the properties panel.

    Note that the selected properties are now added for the Organizer groups, not the model objects. This means that you can only access the selected properties by clicking Open properties panel below this group.
