Work with 3D models

Use the 3D tools on the top toolbar to work with 3D models.

The top toolbar in the Trimble Connect for Browser 3D viewer contains the following commands:

Directions

Open the menu.

Menu includes 3D viewer settings and projects browser.

Invite users to view the file.

  1. Click .

  2. Add an email or select a user from the company.

  3. Select the user role.

  4. Click Invite.

Return to Trimble Connect for Browser.

  • Click .

    You are directed to the Data page in Trimble Connect for Browser.

Rotate the model.

  1. Pick a point in the model, and hold down the left mouse button.

  2. Move your mouse to rotate the model around the point you picked.

Pan the model.

  1. Pick a point in the model, and hold down the left mouse button.

  2. Move the mouse to move the model.

Walk inside the model.

  1. Hold down the left mouse button.

  2. Move your mouse to the walking direction.

Look around the model.

  1. Pick a point in the model, and hold down the left mouse button.

  2. Move the mouse to rotate the model.

Single selection mode.

The single selection mode is on by default.

Area selection mode.

Multi-selection mode. This allows you to keep selecting objects without holding down Shift.

Either the single selection or area selection mode has to be active for activating the multi-selection mode.

Assembly selection mode.

When assembly selection mode is selected, the highest level of assemblies is selected in the 3D viewer.

Either the single selection or area selection mode has to be active for activating the assembly selection mode.

Measure distances or show point coordinates.

You can select between two options:
  • Perpendicular measure measures the perpendicular distance between two points on either the X, Y, or Z axis.

  • Single point shows the coordinates of any point on the X, Y, and Z axes.

The Perpendicular measure option is the default option.

Add a clip pane.

For more information, see Add clip planes

Add a ToDo.

Use ToDos to assign, track and resolve issues with a model. ToDos can be assigned to a user or a group with a due date on when the ToDo needs to be resolved.

  1. Click .

  2. Add the needed information, like Description, Type, and Priority.

  3. Click Save.

Add a view.

For more information, see Create views.

Mark up an element and add text to the model.

For more information, see Add markups.

Opens the model views.

List of the views:

  • Default view

  • Top view

  • Front view

  • Left view

  • Back view

  • Right view

  • Bottom view

Select model views to see the model from different perspectives.

Show all objects.

  • Click .

    All the hidden objects are displayed in the model.

Switches between the ghost mode and the normal viewing mode.

Use the ghost mode to see the context of the selected objects.

  1. Select objects in the model.

  2. In the contextual toolbar, select Hide selection or Show only selected objects.

  3. Click .

The hidden objects are shown in the model view as ghosts, or with high transparency.

Note that the transparent ghost objects cannot be selected.

Show or hide the command instructions.

Command instructions are on by default.

  • Click .

    The instructions are switched off. To switch on the instructions, click again.

Show or hide attachments in the model.

  • Click .

    Attachments are shown on the objects or areas they are related to. Click the attachment to see the attachment details.

Perspective and orthogonal view.

Perspective view is the default view.

  • Click to switch between perspective and orthogonal view.

Reset all the selections, markups, clip panes and measurements.

  • Click .

    The model is reset to default view without selections and markups.
